Today I attended the first general meeting for the accounting club. The purpose of the meeting was simply to welcome back everyone from Christmas break. The meeting took place in the Carl De Santis building room 1047 from 12-1 pm. The accounting club reserved one of the bigger classrooms the business building has to offer. As usual, all of the executive board members (e-board) stood in front of the room speaking about their assigned topic and answering questions. E-board members wear collared black shirts with the green club logo to indicate their position while general members wear normal black t-shirts with the club logo.
For every meeting the club provides pizza and drinks to accommodate for skipping lunch. Today's meeting was mainly intended for welcoming back members and officially initiating new members by rewarding them with club t-shirts. As a welcome back gift they also provided members with a "goody" bag containing a club pen, highlighter, key chain light, and some candy. I was very impressed the social bonding experience, the upper class men e-board members demonstrated their care for the younger level club members.
After the formal welcoming and gifts, the club president, Kendall, reviewed two key points. First, he opened the discussion with the fact that all members on the executive board are seniors and will be graduating in May. That being said, all positions are open for nominations. The offers 5 positions including president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, and marketing or public relations. And finally, the second and last point made by Kendall was to inform all members that the club has reserved study rooms for every Saturday and Sunday from 1-5 pm for the rest of the semester. The study room is highly beneficial since everyone in the room is an accounting major and is more than willing to help out fellow members with questions on the subject. Hope everyone enjoyed and thanks again for reading!
