Today I was given the oppurtunity to observe a study group for Intermediate Accounting II. It is 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday night, in a study room in "the Commons," the sophomore dorms here at Nova Southeastern University. Chris and Nate are third year accounting majors who gave me the chance to observe them as they prepared for class on Thursday. Chris and Nate meet weekly to discuss and review the material from class. When I asked Nate how he felt about being an accounting major he replied "being an accounting major is no joke! If you fall behind you will not be able to move on to the next chapter."
I continued to observe them from the side. They seemed to be quite calm although Chris was quick to inform me that when test come around, they get on average about 5-7 hours of sleep per day. "Because accounting teachers work together, all exams are placed within the same week. Accounting classes are also only available on Tuesdays and Thursdays so students are commonly preparing for multiple test in the same week. Can you imagine two extra midterm and finals week?" Chris claimed. After about half an hour I left the room and let Chris and Nate get back to their books. Thanks for reading and stay tuned for the next post! Good night!
