Notes Summary
In the meeting I was actually quite surprised by the efforts the upper-class men put towards welcoming back the fellow members. President of the club and senior, Kendall, opened the meeting by acknowledging those who helped with the Fall semester's service projects. He awarded four lower class men with certificates of appreciation. The remaining members of the executive board handed out "goody bags" which included several useful items for class. I was quite intrigued by the bonding experience between the us (the members) and our advisor Dr. Harris, a lower and upper level accounting professor. I felt like this meeting displayed their bond as a subculture. Nothing really disturbed me about this meeting. It was actually quite interesting. I am very impressed with this subculture and their display of compassion towards each other.

Second Observation!
Hey everyone!
Today I attended the first general meeting for the accounting club. The purpose of the meeting was simply to welcome back everyone from Christmas break. The meeting took place in the Carl De Santis building room 1047 from 12-1 pm. The accounting club reserved one of the bigger classrooms the business building has to offer. As usual, all of the executive board members (e-board) stood in front of the room speaking about their assigned topic and answering questions. E-board members wear collared black shirts with the green club logo to indicate their position while general members wear normal black t-shirts with the club logo.
For every meeting the club provides pizza and drinks to accommodate for skipping lunch. Today's meeting was mainly intended for welcoming back members and officially initiating new members by rewarding them with club t-shirts. As a welcome back gift they also provided members with a "goody" bag containing a club pen, highlighter, key chain light, and some candy. I was very impressed the social bonding experience, the upper class men e-board members demonstrated their care for the younger level club members.
After the formal welcoming and gifts, the club president, Kendall, reviewed two key points. First, he opened the discussion with the fact that all members on the executive board are seniors and will be graduating in May. That being said, all positions are open for nominations. The offers 5 positions including president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, and marketing or public relations. And finally, the second and last point made by Kendall was to inform all members that the club has reserved study rooms for every Saturday and Sunday from 1-5 pm for the rest of the semester. The study room is highly beneficial since everyone in the room is an accounting major and is more than willing to help out fellow members with questions on the subject. Hope everyone enjoyed and thanks again for reading!

First Observation!
Today I was given the oppurtunity to observe a study group for Intermediate Accounting II. It is 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday night, in a study room in "the Commons," the sophomore dorms here at Nova Southeastern University. Chris and Nate are third year accounting majors who gave me the chance to observe them as they prepared for class on Thursday. Chris and Nate meet weekly to discuss and review the material from class. When I asked Nate how he felt about being an accounting major he replied "being an accounting major is no joke! If you fall behind you will not be able to move on to the next chapter."
I continued to observe them from the side. They seemed to be quite calm although Chris was quick to inform me that when test come around, they get on average about 5-7 hours of sleep per day. "Because accounting teachers work together, all exams are placed within the same week. Accounting classes are also only available on Tuesdays and Thursdays so students are commonly preparing for multiple test in the same week. Can you imagine two extra midterm and finals week?" Chris claimed. After about half an hour I left the room and let Chris and Nate get back to their books. Thanks for reading and stay tuned for the next post! Good night!
